Jammin’

Thanks to a Peabody Career Development Grant, we were finally able to get the equipment that we needed for our first JamLinks rehearsal on Friday.  I had a school event in Baltimore, Miguel had another rehearsal, and Zach came straight from teaching in New Jersey, and we were still able to have an hour and a half of rehearsal on an otherwise busy night.  Jeremiah and I took a while to set up the equipment, but were really proud that when we plugged everything in and logged on to musicianlink.com, we were able to hear Zach and Miguel!  It took a long time to get the levels set correctly, but we were able to play through Jacob Ter Veldhuis’ “HeartBreakers,” and tried a little of Paul Leary’s piece, and it sounded just like we were in the same room together.  You can see what our Baltimore rehearsal looked like up above.  Maybe we need to check those mics again, because apparently things in New Jersey were going a little differently than how we thought they were…

“Strawberry” Jam Links

Traveling in our quartet has become a theme of ours in the past few years after our Peabody days. We travel to concerts, shows, tours, and now rehearsals due to our newly found central locations after school. In trying to save time and money for our rehearsals, Zach introduced us to “Jam Links” which are these great online devices that let us play through the internet with virtually no delay! We test ran them in NJ as part of one of our rehearsal weekends and they worked fantastically.

We applied for a Peabody Development Grant to help fund this new chapter in our online rehearsal venture and we got it! If this all works, we’ll be able to rehearse more frequently and without accumulating too many Amtrak Guest Rewards points. We are in the process of ordering all of the gear to make this happen so we’ll keep you posted on how it all turns out….
